What is Baptism?
Baptism is simply defined as the outward act of an inward change. Destiny Church follows the model laid out by Jesus, which is recorded in the New Testament Gospels, as well as by the Church in Acts. See our core beliefs.
Why Baptism?
-
To follow the example set by Christ.
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” (Mark 1:9) -
Because Christ commanded it.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20) -
It demonstrates I am a Believer.
“We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.” (1 John 2:3)
Baptism is Essential for Membership
Baptism in water by immersion, or willingness to be so baptized (except where this is physically impossible). (Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Rom. 6:4-6) You must be in Third Grade or older and have Pastor approval to be Baptized.
