Your first time at Destiny
Visiting a new church can be intimidating, and you probably have a few questions. Everyone who attends Destiny Church has been there. We understand how strange it can be to visit a church, so we will do whatever we can to make it easy for you. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to call the office before you visit.
Frequently asked questions
When are services?
We worship together as a church family on Sunday mornings at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00. We meet in our Worship Center, so you are welcome to park in our front parking lot and enter the building through the main doors.
What are services like?
Our services typically run an hour and fifteen minutes.
During our services, it’s very important to us to include times of worship through song. This is an amazing way to pause the busy-ness of our lives to simply praise and adore God.
It’s also very important to us to include a time of Biblical teaching through messages. The vast majority of our messages are given by our pastor team, and occasionally a guest speaker or missionary speaks in our services as well!
What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable. We are just excited that you’re joining us and want you to be more focused on what you might hear from God than what you’re wearing. In the summertime, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their “Sunday best,” and that’s fine too! Our pastor typically wears blue jeans and a button-up shirt. We think you’ll fit in no matter how you dress!
What’s the atmosphere like?
Because we are a family, we worship together just like a family lives. Our Worship Center is like a gigantic living room, so you are welcome to bring drinks into the Worship Center. For your convenience, we serve coffee and tea as well as an assortment of snacks, like donuts, muffins, fruit, and more in the foyer before service begins.
What do my children do during church service?
Children’s Ministry is the perfect place for your kids (infant through 5th grade and Jr high) while you attend service. If you would like your children to participate in Children’s Ministry, visit the Children’s Welcome Center located down the hall to your left when you enter the foyer. Your children will be checked in, and led to their class. We encourage you to take a walk down the Kids Zone wing to see where they will be and meet their teachers. For the safety and protection of all the children who participate in Children’s Ministry, all teachers and helpers are background checked before they are allowed to spend time with our children.
If you would prefer your child(ren) to sit with you during the worship service, that’s great! All are welcome in the Worship Center and your kids are no exception!
Do I have to put money in the basket when it goes by?
We didn’t invite you to church to get your money! You don’t have to put money in the offering basket, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. Nobody is watching or judging you! Our Sunday Worship services are a gift to all our guests and we do not expect you to give in the offering. If you consider Destiny your church home, we’d love for you to prayerfully consider giving to support this active ministry. You can give by check or cash during the service by filling out a giving envelope located in your bulletin, or just tossing it in the basket. As long as you fill out the information on the giving envelope, you will receive a giving statement at the end of each year so that you can log your donations on your tax return.
Will there be communion?
We celebrate communion on the fourth Sunday of every month during our Sunday morning services. If you would like to participate in communion, please feel free! We have “Open Communion” at Destiny which simply means that everyone is welcome to celebrate communion with us without needing to take a class or be a certain age. All we ask is that you have a personal relationship with Jesus before taking communion with us. If you would like to know more about how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus, please click here.
If you are not ready to have that relationship with Jesus, or if you simply would not like to join us in communion, you are welcome to simply let the elements pass you by as they are being served.
What’s this church all about, anyway?
