Not sure if you’ve heard the latest headlines of the day so here they are: “Government shut-down”, “Conflict in the Middle East” between Israel and Iran over nuclear bombs, “Healthcare websites crash” leaving people unable to get health insurance, and…much more. This is not to mention our own personal news headlines we face on a daily basis… ”Possible Lay-offs in the company”, “She wants a divorce”, “My Kids want nothing to do with God”, “The Doctor’s report is NOT good!” If we’re not careful, anyone of these news headlines can put us an emotional and spiritual tail-spin.
It’s times like these that we need to go back to God’s Word to reassure us, “It’s all Good!” In Matthew 6, the headlines of the day must have been just as equally difficult for those Jesus was talking too. Check out His response…
“Therefore DO NOT WORRY about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matt. 6:34 NIV)
The reason He can say “DO NOT WORRY” is because He gives us clear direction for how to respond to the difficult headlines of the day. Are you ready?
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matt. 6:33 NLT)
Do What? Here’s how Jesus challenges us to deal with challenges in our lives…
1. Learn to seek God, above all other things in your life to be your source of Security, Hope, Life, and Salvation. The word “seek” implies being continually absorbed in a search for something, or making a strenuous and diligent effort to obtain something.
2. Seek to have God’s Kingdom take priority over our Kingdom. This means having a sit down and examining all the areas of your life and making sure that He first is priority. Take your eyes off of the world and place them on Him. Wherever Jesus is not King, is the place we are going to struggle the most.
3. Seek His Righteousness. This means, seek after God for direction on how to live this life. Then, once you’ve been given the direction, follow it.
Don’t let the worries of this life drag you down. Instead, SEEK after God with all you’ve got and watch Him show up and your faith grow in ways you never seen before.
