I am a big believer that all of us, in some way have been given leadership ability. Let me explain. Well-known author and speaker on the subject of Leadership, John Maxwell, defines Leadership in its most simplest form. He says…Leadership is INFLUENCE!

All around us, each and every day, whether we realize it or not, we INFLUENCE other people. We influence other people’s thoughts and behaviors, for good or bad, by our: words, actions, and attitudes. For example, think back throughout this day on the people you’ve interacted with and ask yourself honestly if they influenced your thoughts or actions in any way. If you are honest, you would have to say yes. It’s because you’ve allowed that person to influence (Lead) you.

So, my challenge is, if we are all Leaders, shouldn’t we be the very best Leaders that God has called us to be? The Apostle Paul tells us that we need to take a serious look at this special gift that God has given to us. “If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you LEADERSHIP ABILITY, take the responsibility seriously.” (Romans 12:8 NLT)

James Nored, from the Spiritual Gifts website says that Those with this Gift often display these characteristics:
–  Have vision and are able to get others to buy into that vision
–  Are able to inspire others towards a good work, direction, or course of actions
–  Others seem to naturally and willingly follow because of their servant heart
–  Take initiative in starting new ministries or new direction
–  Others trust their character, ability, skill level, and judgment
–  Are willing to step forward and be responsible for some task or ministry

Do any of these characteristics resonate with you?

With all of this in mind, I will be leading a once a month Life Group entitled, LEADERSHIP BY THE BOOK.  In this Life Group, we will be discovering together in God’s Word that while a few people appear to be born leaders, the ability to lead is actually a collection of skills, nearly all of which can be learned and sharpened. The purpose of this Life Group is to help you grow as a leader in your personal, professional, and spiritual life.

This is a once a month group that will be meeting at the Village Grill in Allouez 801 Hoffman Rd, Green Bay, WI 54301. We will be meeting Saturdays at 8:30 AM. We will be meeting on Aug, 23rd, Sept. 20th, Oct. 18th, and Nov. 15th. . If you have any questions or need directions use the contact us form at the bottom of this page.  (If you don’t have the book yet, come anyway!)

Let’s be serious and intentional about growing together in this Leadership gifting that God has given to us!
