Destiny Church is a well-oiled, incredible life-giving machine! As a runner in the marathon, I was absolutely overwhelmed, even to the point of tears as I ran through the gauntlet of encouragement you provided at the Green Bay Marathon water station last Sunday. Way to go Church!
Each year I continually hear stories of how much fun everyone has at the water-station, just being a blessing to others through serving people in their time of need. I also hear of the testimonies of how runners are encouraged to press on in their race because of this breath of fresh air. Doesn’t it feel good to be a part of an event like this?
Every year after this event, I’m challenged by the thought, “What if we lived our lives like this? What if I, on a daily basis sought out ways to be a life-giver to someone who is in need?”
The Bible gives us this challenge: “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT)
Two solid qualities of a Life-Giver are: “Motivation” and “Encouragement.” If you don’t know where to start, start with these two qualities. Ask God to give you His Spirit of “Motivation” and “Encouragement” to pour out on the people in your world. Then, put yourself into position to do it. Each of you had to show up at the water station last Sunday to be where people were in need. The same thing…Put yourself into position where people are hurting, don’t avoid them. Then, as you live out God’s Spirit that is in you, you will see lives impacted like never before.
Church, let’s keep this water station open all year long!
Way to go Destiny!
Lastly Church, let’s be in prayer for the hurting and wounded lives in Moore, Oklahoma. Let’s ask God for His healing, redemptive power to bring healing and hope to those in need.
